About Same or Different
This tool is a cognitive stimulation exercise built on the same-different comparison task: two items appear side by side and the job is to decide whether they are identical or whether one detail has changed. Half the pairs are the same, so guessing scores half marks, and the results separate the two ways of being wrong: a real difference that was missed, and a difference that was seen where there was none. The changes are generated fresh every round and graded by how small they are, from a clearly different character to twins like O and 0, a heavier line, or a dot nudged one step. The memory dial shows the first item alone, hides it, and then shows the second, which turns the task into a comparison from memory.
It’s built for occupational therapists, caregivers, and anyone practicing visual discrimination, attention to detail, and processing speed, and it runs in any browser with no setup. Responses are two large buttons at the person’s own pace. Same or Different is a practice and cognitive stimulation tool, not a standardized assessment, and no patient information is collected or stored.
